AAFM 2021 Fall Conference

The 2021 AAFM Conference will be held at The Perdido Beach Resort. Situated directly on the Gulf of Mexico in Orange Beach, Alabama, Perdido Beach Resort is exclusively located near Alabama Point, locally known as “The Pass,” where the Intracoastal Waterway meets the deep waters of the Gulf, and boaters take a voyage for their afternoon venture. Join us in this wonderful setting for an opportunity to learn from and network with other floodplain managers from around the state and region. To accommodate those of you unable to attend in person, we will be making provisions to host the technical sessions virtually. Additional login and access information will be sent out to those who register for the virtual option.

General Conference Information and Schedule

Please join us on the beautiful Gulf coast as we embark on yet another Alabama Association of Floodplain Managers Fall Conference.  Due to the recent upsurge of COVID-19 cases in Alabama, we will again be utilizing technology to bring you another hybrid conference consisting of both in-person & virtual training sessions for those unable or not ready to travel. To accommodate those of you unable to attend in person, we will be making provisions to host the technical sessions virtually. Additional login and access information will be sent out to those who register for the virtual option. For those who choose to learn remotely, we will have live events each day. See the Draft Agenda for more information about the program.

For those that will be joining us in-person, the Perdido Beach Resort has very spacious and comfortable meeting space for us to utilize. The Resort is an AHLA "Safe Stay" Hotel and has implemented all of the safety protocols using the framework developed by the AHLA. See the Resorts safety measures on it's website at:  Resort COVID-19 Safety Measures  In addition, sanitization stations will be available throughout the conference area, seating will be spaced at 3-foot separations, and 6-foot spacing will be encouraged for any lines formed for events or sign-ins.

A full line up of speakers from industry, academia, government, and more will be on hand.  Additional information on the events and agenda will be coming soon.  We anticipate offering 12 credits for CEUs for engineers/CFMs again this year but will have the final credits once ASFPM reviews our final agenda. The class will be offered on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00-5:00 PM and the exam offered on Wednesday morning onsite at 9:00 AM (check-in by 8:45). Additional information about the review class, applying for the exam, and planning for the review class will be sent with your email confirmation when you register to take the CFM exam at the conference.
